If you're feeling adventurous, you can chop your tree up and put it in your green waste bin. Pieces need to be less than a metre long and no more than five centimetres in diameter, and keep in mind that yard waste collection doesn’t start again until March.
The other option is to bring it to a local (and free) chipping location, which are open until the end of January (except Jan. 1). Your tree will be chipped and composted into a nutrient-rich soil enhancer. Check online for open hours:
