Alexandra Kathleen Beauty was created by local Kelowna resident, Alexandra. Alexandra has been practicing Aesthetics and Medical Aesthetics since 2006 in Kelowna. In 2021, she ventured to work on Luxury Liners in world renowned spas. Since settling back in Kelowna, she has continued to treat clients alongside her mother, Nicola - who has been in the Aesthetics industry since the 80’s.
Nicola started her career in Vancouver where she then worked for her Mother as an Aesthetician. Once Alexandra was born, the family moved to the Okanagan where Nicola opened her clinic in Kelowna. Since then the business has advanced tremendously over the years as technology has progressed.
In more recent years, Nicola founded and started the Nicola Finch Laserspa Academy where Nicola and Alexandra have the privilege of teaching future Medical Aesthetician’s throughout Canada.
Over the years, Alexandra has been fortunate enough to work with many skincare lines; from her early years working at the Merle Norman in Kelowna, to the clinic with her mother Nicola, and then with the various lines while working at the spa on the yachts of Seabourn.
She has taken her vast knowledge of ingredients and applied it to the creation of effective and healing formulas. Alexandra’s theory is that a formula doesn’t have to contain chemical preservatives and the ingredients can be simple, yet very effective.
In the designing and creating of Alexandra Kathleen Beauty, the initial goal was to ensure that after performing a treatment a clean and non-toxic formula was being applied to the skin. Each ingredients is extensively researched about its effectiveness and safety to the skin and body. All of the formulas are designed and tested, not only by Alexandra herself but other skincare specialists for optimal efficacy.
The products have exclusively natural preservatives always. They are clinical grade, clean and non-toxic, tested only on human volunteers (never animals) and always produced in small batches to ensure the efficacy of active ingredients.
Alexandra’s favourite ingredients are ones that heal the skin and promote healthy cell turnover such as: enzymes, detoxifying clays, antioxidants and fruit extracts. Each product is designed with every skin type in mind, making them an excellent compliment to any skin care routine.
Throughout the years when treating various skin concerns, Alexandra has always trusted the power of clays. Kaolin clay has always been the go-to after performing various treatments at the clinic. You will find Kaolin clay in the majority of her skincare line.
Some benefits of this powerful ingredient are: calming redness and inflammation of the skin, refining and detoxifying impurities, balancing oily/combination skin and gently exfoliating away dead skin cells.
A key pointer from Alexandra for maintaining a a healthy glow is exfoliating at least once a week! She recommends 2-3 times a week, if you can swing the time. Exfoliating helps to reveal new, plump cells by sloughing away dead skin cells. By exfoliating, serums and moisturizers are better able to penetrate your skin.
Another tip is to use a serum daily. Serums are concentrated formulas that are free from fillers, so the skin is able to absorb it more effectively than the moisturizer on its own. Serums are designed to provide your skin with exactly what it needs to help maintain a healthy complexion.
Lastly, she highly recommends that people cleanse their skin everyday and to always, always, always wear SPF. Keeping the skin cleansed, hydrated and protected will do wonders in the long run!
Although Alexandra was born in Vancouver, she is proud to call Kelowna home. From being a short distance away from beaches and beautiful walks ands scenery to taking advantage of the amazing local wineries - the Okanagan will always be home for Alexandra and her family.
Alexandra is tremendously grateful for all the clients and relationships she has built over the years throughout the profession. She is excited for the future of the brand and the road ahead.
